Three versions of Welcome Step v2 are available:

Welcome Step v2 Basic Version:
A visitor walks on Welcome Step and hears an audible voice say “welcome”. Onscreen text also prints welcome and the visitors name. Welcome Step detects the visitor’s viewer language setting, and automatically plays the audible welcome message in English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish. The onscreen text also prints their name and welcome in their matching language. Welcome Step v2 Basic Version also includes an Invisible mode setting.

Welcome Step v2 Business Edition:
Includes all the features of the Basic Version along with a feature called Customer Helper, which improves your business / event by following up with each visitor. You can adjust the follow up time and customize the follow up message. The name of the Customer Helper itself can also be changed to customize from what (object name) the visitor receives the follow up message. The visitors are also provided a link to your SL resident profile (so they know who to contact). The Customer Helper development by productPM illustrates a personalized level of customer follow up which is not available from standard website traffic (a traditional website cannot automatically follow up with an unknown websurfer). The Welcome Step v2 Business Edition also includes a distinctive hovertext sequence showcasing your visitor’s name with a gradual color changing welcoming greeting.

Welcome Step v2 Corporate Edition:
Includes all the features of the Business Edition, and also notifies hippoVISIT. The Corporate Edition is also okCopy (This means you can make copies of the item. okCopy is a better value if you might need more than one instance of the item).

Quick Set up:

  1. Rez Welcome Step v2 from your inventory.
  2. Welcome Step v2 will work out of the box using the default settings.

The behavioral result of the Quick Set up (for the Business and Corporate editions) will be a one minute follow up message stating “Thanks for visiting today. Please let me know if I can assist you.”. This message will also include the owner name and SL profile link. The follow up IM will appear to be said from an object named “Customer Helper”.

To configure Welcome Step v2 with your customized settings, please follow the Detailed Set up below:

Detailed Set up:

  1. Rez Welcome Step v2 from your inventory.
  2. Position your Welcome Step v2 at a location where visitors will be most likely to walk on it
  3. Right-click Welcome Step v2
  4. From the top of your viewer select Build/Edit
  5. Select the Contents tab
  6. Within the Contents panel look for a notecard named “_config”
  7. Right-click the _config notecard
  8. Select Open to view the _config notecard
  9. Configuration options are described below
  10. When you have finished adjusting the configuration options, close the _config notecard
  11. Close the content panel
  12. In order for your configuration settings to load the Welcome Step v2 must be reset
  13. Left-click your Welcome Step v2, for a dialog menu to appear
  14. Press the Reset button
  15. Onscreen reset progress will be texted to you
  16. When you see the reset confirmation text, your Welcome Step v2 is ready to use.

Configuration:

Basic Version notecard configuration:
The Welcome Step v2 Basic version only has one setting option, Invisibility.

Invisibility setting:
To make invisible “Yes”
To make visible “No”
Do not include “quotations”
INVISIBLE: No

Business Edition notecard configuration:
The Welcome Step v2 Business Edition includes the invisibility option, as well as three additional settings:

Customer Helper setting:
Sets alternate name of Customer Helper
To turn off Customer Helper change to “Off”
CUSTOMERHELPER: Customer Helper

Follow up Message setting:
Sets the message the Customer Helper says when following up with a visitor.
HELPMESSAGE: Thanks for visiting today. Please let me know if I can assist you.

Follow up Time setting:
Sets the duration of time in minutes that the Customer Helper should wait before contacting a visitor.
TIME: 1

Corporate Edition Configuration:
The Welcome Step v2 Corporate Edition includes settings for Customer Helper, Follow up Message, Follow up Time, as well as two further settings that are required to connect with a hippoVISIT HUD hub.

hippoVISIT expansion:

Your Welcome Step v2 Corporate Edition has the ability to communicate with hippoVISIT. A hippoVISIT Expansion Pack is included. If you do not already own a hippoVISIT, you are welcome to purchase a hippoVISIT from the included vending board. hippoVISIT will need to be set up first before connecting Welcome Step v2 Corporate Edition.

Tip:
To determine what the key of your hippoVISIT HUD Hub is a key-finding script has been included inside the hippoVISIT Expansion Pack. Drop this key-finding script inside the contents of your hippoVISIT HUD Hub. Notice that the key is printed as onscreen text.

hippoVISIT notification behavior:
Your hippoVISIT will now inform you when an avatar has been detected by Welcome Step v2 Corporate Edition. You can see this notification occur by simply walking on Welcome Step v2 Corporate Edition.

Behavior:

Welcome Step v2 auto detects the visitors language setting. If none of the Welcome Step v2 supported languages are detected, English becomes the default language. If you are curious to hear your Welcome Step v2 various voice languages, your can manually adjust your SL viewer language specific preference.

It is possible for a visitor to repeatedly walk over Welcome Step v2. In such an event the visitor would only see the welcome print text and hear the welcome voice about every 20 seconds. The Business and Corporate Editions have the same repeat welcome print text and welcome voice behavior, however a mechanism prohibits repeat hovertext and repeat Customer Helper follow up. The repeat visitor database is automatically cleared at reset.

The default Customer Helper follow up time is set for 1 minute. The Customer Helper follow up time is an adjustable setting. You may prefer to follow up with the visitor say 20 minutes later. For each visitor, an invisible Customer Helper device is rezzed and independently keeps track of the follow time remaining for that particular visitor. After the Customer Helper messages the visitor, the Customer Helper object deletes itself. So, it is important to keep the follow up time in proportion to your average traffic, while considering your parcel prim limit.

Maintenance:
If you take Welcome Step v2 back into your inventory, and rerez it later, it should be reset before use.
